When tournaments are scarce, the players seem to lighten up on their playing and training schedules. But that is the best time to improve racquetball skills.
What do you need to improve upon?
Answer: Where are they serving you and how are they serving you?”
If the answer is lob to the backhand -duh–improve cutting off backhands and returning backhand lobs. Same with any other serve to any side. Your weakness is well known to your opponents.
Now, here is the tricky part. I see lots of people practicing who should not be practicing.
Why? They are practicing incorrectly and by the time they get to me or to a tournament it will be harder to erase the imperfections in their game.
If you have a sore shoulder, elbow, back, knee, etc. you are probably hitting the ball incorrectly.
Racquetball is a new sport and the instruction can be behind the advancements in the game. Before you can compete you need to build a body to compete with. Then you have to build the skills to go along with the physical training. Build your training schedule around the things you need to improve upon the most!
