Team Racquetball Rules

A few words about Racquetball junior team play. Since racquetball is mostly an individual sport some things have to change when you become a team member. Here are the top 7 things to remember when you compete for a team.

1. You do not feel like practicing. Too bad, but your teammates need you so suck it up and get to practice. Anything less is selfish!

2. You are really sick. Ok, now this is when it is okay to miss practice because giving someone your disease is not a team friendly act!

3. You only practice when the team practices? Not enough time! You need to practice on your own and with a practice partner. That is the only way to get better.

4. Ultimately you are responsible for your own coaching. Okay, I get it. You may have a college, high school, National etc. coach. This person means well but cannot give you individual attention if they have a full team. Get lessons and get going! You are responsible for your game anyway; Not coachie woachie; you!

5. Your behavior, your dress, how you carry yourself and how you act all reflects upon your team. They do not say, Faloana Fluffball or Freddie Finkwad are troublemakers, they will start their sentence like this, “One of those……..(fill in institution name here) racquetball team players”………..(fill in the poor behavior here)

6. Be proud to be a team member. Wear your uniform and regalia proudly! You have earned it but remember 1-5 above!

7. Help your teammates. Together you all operate in much stronger fashion. Don’t believe me? Everywhere I have gone the teams have done very well because of organization and the support of the young men and women on that team. When you play like individuals you will lose as individuals or win but the team will suffer!

Follow the seven team rules and avoid being one of the individual fools!
