I Lost-I Played Bad-I Won-I Played Good??

Tournament feedback 101–One of my athletes reports to me with an “I got beat” I respond, “What happened?
“Coach, I played this national champion and he was the best player I have ever seen.”
So I go to the video tape-and my player, for lack of a better word, played poorly and the so-called awesome player they competed against was not that good-!
So what in the world happened? Seems that the player who was supposed to be all world had a great drive serve. My player did nothing to stop the momentum and onslaught. For example they never used ten seconds to receive serve, never changed positions receiving serve, and my athlete did not respond by hitting good drive serves back at the opponent.
Something to consider. This opponent might have a reason they hit drive serves. That reason might be they do not like to receive drive serves either!
Another thing-rather than be over-whelmed-compete! Fight the points, do not give in!
Go get’em Tigers!!
