Dear Coach-I have been out of the game for 7 years. What drills should I do and what kind of a training schedule should I attempt to set for myself?

Dear Comeback,
Here is what I suggest. Go to my website and sign up for the free video lesson. This is a huge help because you get an idea of how I coach remotely. Send one video at the beginning of the session and I will go over it and diagnose problems and prescribe an RX for you of practice. For me to guess here with no video is sort of a wish and a hope. I need to see what is going on to better prescribe. Of course if you like the service, you are free to sign up for my monthly program.
That said, I will give some general advice tips.
1. Forehand and backhand mechanics. Start drop and hit and get to movement drills as soon as possible.
2. Footwork-as I said movement drills are a must. Get after it.
3. Training off court-weight training and attention to imbalance, weakness, core issues, lower back etc are also very important.
4. Take it easy on the comeback. You have the same brain you had when you were playing all the time but that brain is in a different body! Do not over-exert and hurt yourself!
5. This from yesteryear legend, John Chelucci, please allow at least one day of solo practice.
6. Finally, get playing. All competition you can at the highest level you can manage. Playing under pressure in tournaments advances your skills at warp speed. Playing at the club…not so much.
Good luck on the comeback and go get’em tiger!!!
