Okay so I received this on my youtube channel a few weeks ago. A viewer wrote basically what the heck was my intention to have a video of Kane hitting a backhand. There was no instruction, just a view, and not a great view either of his backhand. My response was I thought that was a valid point. There was no instruction just a view. Why? I did this as a service to anyone who wanted to study the backhand. If I was an up and coming open player I would study that backhand as I did Dave Peck, Marty Hogan, Mike Yellin, and many others. But I pointed out that there was no instruction and here is why.
I have many who pay for this instruction. I try to do as much as I can to educate the public about how to hit the ball and play this game. But I do not spill the secret sauce. Sometimes the sauce makes it to one of my posts and my athletes get all over me for it but the public usually misses it.
Here is a tip for everyone: If you have a good forehand or backhand but not vice versa-look carefully at your weaker side. The evidence is there as you will be doing something different on one side than the other. That is how I began to learn this game. Who taught me?
Answer: Myself and anyone who spilled tips during tournaments and camps to me!
Now here is another way to look at the information. It took me 52 years to accumulate this information. Anything I charge for it is a bargain compared to the cost of tournament entries, hotels, travel, and hours spent learning my craft of playing and later, coaching!
