Here is how I translate that. I am weak returning a good drive serve. I would suggest getting better at returning drive serves or developing one of your own.
If you do not have a serve weapon, you are starting the fight as a defensive player. You can defend, but you cannot attack! This is the strategy that doomed many military leaders in the history of the world!
You can only defend so long and usually the “attacker” beats the “defender”.
Two tips on returning drive serve.
1. look to cut off any and all serves in the alleys before they get to the back corner. Work on this as you can cut more serves off.
2. by attempting the aforementioned you will then be able to read the drive serve better and react to ones you cannot cut off.
ps: Don’t forget to let some serves go that are coming off the back wall as you can shoot those more easily!
