Mental Chains in Racquetball Brains

Dear Young aspiring athlete,

I wish I could free you from your cage. You have restrained your creativity and shot-making abilities with your mental chains.
Your mind is saying this to you:

1. I cannot believe I made that mistake.
2. Here it goes again, more mistakes coming.
3. I just cannot believe it is happening again. I just skipped a setup.
4. All this work and I’m losing again? This is not fair.
5. Fudge!
Your mind should be this saying to you:

6. That’s okay, there are more shots to make.
7. Keep my poise, I can do this.
8. Think it through-do I need to change my shot selection?
9 I made 3 good shots and my opponent made one lucky one. I can get this.
10. Fudge! Fix it! Forget it! On to the next point.

For those of you still with me..read on and capture some secret sauce!!

In your practice matches chart the above 5. If you can do 6-10 chart it as a win, even if you lose. If you are thinking 1-5 chart it as a loss, even if you win. Really focus on those last 5, and throw out the first 5! Guess which 5 will result in the score going in your favor?

Go get’em Tiger!
Onward and upward,
Coach W
