Play Poker, not family feud!
I happened upon the tv game show, Family Feud the other night and these crazies are jumping up and down and acting insane for a new tv or some such prize.
I got thinking where have I seen that type of behavior before? While pouring through video it comes to me!
Scenario 1-athlete misses a setup forehand at the short line. Goes back to receive serve; no drama, no rolling of the eyes, not one drop of emotion!
Scenario 2-athlete misses a setup forehand at the short line and screams, rolls eyes, has a hissy fit, and acts like it was the last shot they’ll ever get.
Which player would you rather play in a tournament?
Yep, the latter, not the former! Why?
Without thinking too much about it, competitors smell fear. All of that craziness sends a strong message.
The message reads something like this; I have to make every shot or I will lose. The message of the first player is__________. Yep, you have to fill in the blank.
The first player is playing poker and the second one is in family feud! You do not know what the first player is thinking. That puts more pressure on you. That should be the same all the way to the end of the match. Win or lose, the more you tip your hand, the worse it is!
