Keep practice more simple. From the book, Peak Performance by
Anders Ericsson.
Purposeful practice is:
1. Well defined with specific goals
2. Focused
3.Must have feedback
4. Must involve getting out of one’s comfort zone
#2 and number 4 are the two that affect athletes the most. The practice is not focused and the practice does not include leaving the comfort zone.
I would also add one more thing to this equation. Make sure the athlete is practicing the correct things. Today more pros are teaching correct mechanics than ever before. But they are still in a minority.
Good marketing can make someone appear to be an expert!
It is not about the what –what shot to hit–it is about the how–how do I hit that shot.
Peak Performance-I recommend it!
