Racquetball Rules for Success

A few months ago I had an, aspiring pro visiting me for help. I am going over video now and developing a game plan for this young phenom. For any coaching plan to be successful, I need the answer to one question, “What is your goal?”
Once I have the goal we can attack the process of reaching that goal.
I hate to burst the bubble of all players out there, but there is no “hacking” for success. The formula goes like this:
1. Build a body to compete with
2. Build the skills to compete with
3. Build the mental tenacity to deal with setbacks
4. Build the mental discipline to deal with success
#4 is very important and maybe even more important than #3. Once you start winning everyone is tagging in on an athlete’s success. The athlete may even begin to think they are all that and a bag of chips. That is stinkin thinkin. To win at this game you must strive for improvement.
You improve by working on 1-4. The specifics of #1 and #2 become really important. Soon I will be slathering the secret sauce upon my visiting pro. The little details determine the outcome. Trust the process to be the best!
