Study for Finals? Or Prepare to Win?

Studying for exams in college usually went like this. Relax for 9 weeks, do your homework and assignments but then cram the knowledge in for the finals. Stay up all night, slam coffee and take the test. Crash for a day and repeat semester after semester so you can spit back the information the teacher told you or the books taught you.
That my friends is rote memorization at it’s finest.
Racquetball is not like that although many players treat it as such. Hiring the ole ball coach to accelerate your learning curve hours before the big tournament will not have the same outcome as the college exam. Why?
For one thing, you must have the skills to react to situations arising during competition. Memorization or short term practice will not do that. It takes about 4 years to completely build a champion from the ground up if that champion does the work.
So here is how to become a killshot Queen or king, not a crammer!
Develop a weekly, monthly, and semi-annual schedule of practice that includes skill work, strength training, and nutrition.
Stick to the schedule, morphing into and out of extreme work as your personal, work, or school life dictates.
Use a coach who understands the game as a guide along this journey.
Follow this formula and the week before the big tournament should be like the rest of the weeks; not a cram fest for the big event!
