Ten Myths of Racquetball

Top ten myths of racquetball instruction:
1. Transfer your weight forward to play better. Sure-and then try to get to the next shot without false steps!
2. It does not matter how you hit the ball. Yes, until you blow out a shoulder or back.
3. If you practice hard you will win. No, not if you practice wrong!
4. If you get stronger and faster you will win. Maybe-for sure in a cross-fit competition but not necessarily racquetball!
5. If you hire a coach you will win. Maybe, if you hire someone whom others call coach, not someone who calls themselves coach.
6. Put your feet toward the front wall on the dotted line for great positioning. Yes, and get passed more easily!
7., Step to the side wall on that backhand and hit it hard! Sure, and then find a good Doctor because of your sore back and shoulder!
8. Put your V of your grip on top of the racquet for a good forehand-yep-and then wonder why your forehand skips and your shoulder hurts!
9. Put your feet very wide for return of serve. Yes, and then have to bring them in to get to a shot!
10. Line up at the back wall for return of serve. Please do! Especially when playing my athletes who are coached to hit great drive serves!
There is no such thing as perfect in our sport. Every rule has exceptions and the more you practice the basics, the better you will execute come game time!
Go get’em tigers!
