Help-a guru is scouting me! This happened to me years ago at a tournament. Some legend showed up and was videotaping my match. Not on the sly but like “hey crowd, look at me-I’m a guru videotaping a peon player”!
It is unnerving but watch the pros. They are on tv and they have cameras going all over but are totally focused on the ball. They have coaches who text them during time outs and they have Coachoramus demontratus waving and calling serves against them. Stay focused on the ball. You are playing the ball, not some guru or guruette.
Oh, and if it is me standing back there remember, all I do is suggest things to my player.
So instead of focusing on the coach watching your or video-taping you, you should be executing shots.
Here is another suggestion- learn an all around game of all skills so one game plan should not defeat you. If you have a forehand, backhand, and decent footwork, game planning becomes for lack of a better word, “fluid”. You can change as you move through the match.
I want my athletes to coach themselves during matches and not depend on me. To put it in plain words, you should be doing that also!
