Generally all of my lessons start the same way. “What are your goals?” How do your goals match your lifestyle, job, school, family, relationships etc.? How much time do you have to devote to racquetball excellence? To be good at it, you must make a schedule to train and get to work.
To be great at it, well takes more than a schedule and training. It takes passion and a desire to be number one. Champions are different. They have the extra something that allows them to dominate the competition. It is practice but more than that it is practice with a purpose and a vision.
Once I was the best player in my club. I had to ask myself over and over, am I practicing to win, or am I practicing to get better at racquetball? Will that winning shot I just hit here be a winner on Sunday next week in the finals? If not, why?
This is the lesson to relay to my students. Thankfully so many of them not only learn it but become independent players which is my goal for them!
But when something goes wrong-it comes back to the basics. So many players have trouble putting life, footwork, forehands and backhands into their daily routines!
