Most players have imperfections in their forehands or backhands. Hitting a soft drive serve at those imperfections greatly increases your chances of getting setups.
I call these types of serves “dinky doos” as the ball is dinked back to an opponent’s forehand or backhand. This causes the opponent to have to use good footwork to get to the ball and good mechanics to strike the ball after getting to it!
Since good footwork and mechanics are deficient in many players, this movement deficiency results in many scoring opportunities.
Dinky Doo 101 technique-think of this serve as a “lob drive” serve. The softer the better and work to change the angles of the serve.
Never allow it to come off the back wall as a back wall dinky doo will be the ruination of the great game plan!
Now have some fun with this and sing to your opponent–“A Dink, A dinka doo”
As the late great Jimmy Durante used to sing in the 1930s-(you tube old footage) a dink, a dinka do for more wins for you!
Inka Dinka Doo–
