Racquetball is a game of opposites. That is what our game is is in its simplest form. If the ball goes to the right it is coming left and vice versa due to the side walls. If it goes behind you it is coming back and same with in front. Now it gets better. If you go forward your racquet should go back, not forward. If you try real hard you will not have success. You need to try easier, not harder. If you try to hit the ball as hard as you can, you won’t. If you can slow your swing down, you will. If you are thinking ” I have to do this…” you won’t! If you are not thinking your chances are better! If you play too conservatively you will lose and same if you play too liberally with your shot selection.
So to summarize: 7 ways to better play!
1. Slow down
2. Stay; wait for the ball to come to you
3. Do not over-pursue!
4. Be more daring with shots on your serve as you cannot lose points. On receiving serve; not somuch!
5. Do not try to be perfect; aim two feet not bottom board.
6. If you do not have a shot use the ceiling; do not force shots!
7. Keep the racquet up, not below your waist!
8. Have fun, it is a game!
