It is very tough on the ego to be a very good player and then meet the coach who informs you of weaknesses you did not know you had. Even worse is the fact your support group is slapping you on the back and jumping on your bandwagon, all the while telling you how great you are!

Why should you change your game? You are the Queen or King of the world! I have to keep reminding folks they are great players. I know they are great but that does not mean an athlete cannot improve! Slight little errors in footwork or mechanics can undermine the best efforts.

I am constantly looking for new techniques to accelerate the learning process and I look in places most racquetball pros never think to look.
Baseball, football, gymnastics, tennis, and running to name a few odd sports that all encompass some form of training that can help racquetball.

One of the best compliments I get and I have received it more than once in my career, is that I keep changing my coaching. By watching video, listening to trainers, and listening to my athletes giving me feedback, I am able to change what I do for each player.

Back to racquetball and improvement. The thing that will help an athlete improve the most is a realistic assessment of strengths and weaknesses. If you don’t know your weakness it is easy to find it. Where and what serve are your opponents giving you? There’s your weakness!
